Alsop High School has been shortlisted as a finalist in the National Crimebeat Awards 2022. This is in recognition of the #TogetherWeCan initiative launched by the school in north Liverpool. During the pandemic the school has made great efforts to bring all the parts of the community together with a message of hope and renewal.

The National Crimebeat Awards is an annual event organised by the High Sheriffs’ Association to honour schools and organisations that run successful community-based crime-prevention projects for young people. Alsop is delighted to be a finalist for this national accolade.

Jo Palmer, Secretary of National Crimebeat writes:
“The panel of judges were thrilled with the quality and quantity of entries for the 2022 awards. There can be no doubt that our young people are taking responsibility for combatting crime in their communities. The final judging has taken place, which was an incredibly difficult task generating some passionate debate.”

The school is in the top three and will be attending the Awards Ceremony in London during March. The young people have been asked to present their project to the audience. The winning order, which is already determined, will then be revealed.

The #TogetherWeCan entry is endorsed Nigel Stuart Lanceley FCA.DL, High Sheriff of Merseyside, who praises the effort of these young ambassadors.

“Alsop has attempted to address the issues of social isolation where children have been at home and missing the interaction of attendance. This has been expanded to bring the whole community into the school by providing a hub for social contact. Their message is about hope and renewal. Walking together is also a strong message.

“Alsop High School has a long tradition of social networking and community work. They are well regarded in the City of Liverpool. The films send a powerful message of commitment by young people.”

Mr Paul Masher, headteacher, writes:
“We are delighted to be a finalist for this accolade from National Crimebeat in recognition for Alsop’s contribution to the life of our community. Our young ambassadors seek to build a stronger and safer community. They are a real credit to their families.”
