At Alsop Sixth Form, we are very proud of the caring environment we provide, which is one of the many things that makes our Sixth Form a special place to study.

We operate an open-door policy, offering a range of support services—whether it’s just a brief chat, a counselling referral, or guidance with university and careers advice.

The Tutor Team

At Alsop Sixth Form, you will be linked to a tutor group, where you will be placed with a committed and knowledgeable tutor who will monitor your attendance and progress during your time with us. Your tutor is normally the first point of contact if you are in need of support.

The tutor team delivers a comprehensive tutor programme to prepare you for your next steps, whether that’s university, apprenticeships, or full-time work. They will also guide you through the UCAS application process. We believe that our tutor team is one of our greatest strengths, as we truly get to know each student, and in turn, you will get to know us.

Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and expect all staff to share this commitment. All tutors receive comprehensive annual safeguarding training, and we have several members of the Safeguarding Team who work within the Sixth Form.

Academic Support

We are dedicated to providing every student with the opportunity to reach their full potential. The Sixth Form team, along with subject teachers and Heads of Department, closely monitors student progress. When necessary, personalised interventions are put in place to address any issues.

Contact with home is maintained if any issues arise, to ensure these are nipped in the bud as quickly as possible, providing timely support to both students and their families.

Students with Additional Needs

Our Sixth Form offers a supportive environment through our pastoral systems and dedicated pastoral staff. Support for examinations is also available for students with additional support requirements.

Equality & Diversity

We believe that everyone is important, has the right to be valued, treated with respect, and supported throughout their time at Alsop Sixth Form. Our full Equality & Diversity policies are available on our website, detailing our procedures to ensure an inclusive and respectful environment for all.

Financial Support

The Government provides a 16-19 Bursary Fund for students facing financial difficulties. The maximum bursary of £1,200 a year is available for the most vulnerable students, such as those in care, care leavers, young people receiving income support (or Universal Credit), and disabled young people in receipt of Disability Living Allowance.

Other discretionary bursary payments are available based on individual circumstances. For further information, please contact the Sixth Form office.
