Alsop High School has established The Alsop Foundation CIO to provide additional services to students and their families. The Charitable Incorporated Organisation will greatly enhance the opportunities available to young people.

After a lengthy process, Alsop High School has received the news that their application to establish The Alsop Foundation CIO, has been approved by the Charity Commission. The Foundation has appointed five trustees to develop initiatives to assist students and their families outside of the normal school day. Such initiatives will look at family well-being and support. The foundation also hopes to offer opportunities to develop basic numeracy and information technology.

During the recent period of “lockdown”, the Alsop Foundation was able to generate funds to offer much needed support to students and their families. On a weekly basis, Alsop staff visited over 200 families. As well as a friendly chat, the families received a weekly food hamper and a packed lunch. This was a mammoth operation and the food hampers were co-ordinated by Mrs Angela Morrison, Alsop Catering Manager.

Mrs Marilyn Fielding, Chair of Governors comments: “We are delighted that Alsop has established The Alsop Foundation. During the Covid 19 lockdown the Foundation was able to support some of the most vulnerable families here in North Liverpool.
I am very proud of how Alsop staff were able to engage with the community during the last few months. I know these families will always remember the kindness displayed and how Alsop helped and supported them during a very difficult period in their lives.”

Once current restrictions end, the trustees hope to facilitate a formal launch the foundation, at an event with former students and staff. For more details about the Alsop Foundation, please contact: office@Alsophigh.org.uk or telephone 0151 235 1200.
