The 23rd March 2023 marks the third anniversary of the first UK lockdown due to Covid 19.    The special film encourages young people to PAUSE, REFLECT and REMEMBER all those whose lives have been affected by Covid 19. It begins with a lovely Celtic prayer recited by students from Arnot St Mary CE School which involves the lighting of three candles.

Mr Peter Bull, Co-ordinator Alsop Faith Hub comments: “Over the last three years we have journeyed together during difficult times. Many have lost their connections with friends, more distant relatives and community life. We continue to learn how to live together again. The film provides the opportunity to pause and
reflect.”

Rev Fiona Pennie, Interim Priest at Walton Church writes: “23rd March 2023 is a day to remember our loved ones who’ve died. It is a time to support family, friends, colleagues and neighbours who continue to grieve. It is also a time to remember all we have achieved during the last three years. Above all it is a time to connect with each other and think about ways we can work together and rebuild our communities.

During the film students are encouraged to pause and be still. They are asked to reflect and perhaps connect with someone who is grieving. This might be in simple ways such as having a chat with them, sending a card, a message, or giving them some spring flowers.

During the week Alsop students will also plant seeds and flowers in memory of those who have died and tie yellow ribbons on the railings. Staff and community members will also be encouraged to light candles to “Share a LIGHT” at 8pm.

Councillor Barbara Murray, Chair of Liverpool SACRE comments: “A great example of Collective Worship facilitated by Liverpool young people. Well Done to the pupils of Arnot St Mary and Alsop High School.”
Stephen Beamond, Growing Faith Programmes Lead writes: “An absolutely fantastic film. It is wonderful that young people are central throughout. The film creates a wonderful space for people to reflect.”

The film will be shown in the north Liverpool schools on the National Day of Reflection. It will also be distributed to schools across the UK.
