Year 9/10 Football – Merseyside Cup vs Pensby High School

What. A. Game.
On a freezing cold November night, with a brand-new kit and plenty of new faces in the squad, we travelled to Pensby for our first Merseyside Cup fixture — and it did not disappoint!
Alsop struck first to go 1–0 up, before Pensby equalised. We took the lead again (2–1), only for Pensby to fight back and eventually move ahead 4–2. But our girls showed unbelievable resilience, battling to bring it back to 4–4.
Pensby edged ahead once more, but Alsop responded instantly to level the score at 5–5 with under five minutes to play.
Then, in the final minute, Isla stepped up with a brilliant winner to seal a 6–5 victory and send us through to the next round!
A huge congratulations to Lamiyah, who scored an incredible five goals.
The team showed everything we stand for: communication, motivation, teamwork and pure resilience.
Well done, girls — onto the next round!
