We sent Joseph M and Zack G (both Year 9) to Liverpool Schoolboy Trials this week. Joe made it through to the second day but Zack went right through the entire three-day process and made it to the final 10. I’m due to get an email from the manager to find out if he was successful for selection but I’m optimistic.

Selection for the Liverpool district is brutal and the competition is fierce because they have to go up against kids who are already established and play for the academies of Liverpool, Man City, and many others. As well as talent the mental strength, maturity and determination it requires is enormous. All credit to them, they did themselves and us all proud.

I know that this seems like a trivial thing, but when you consider where we started from to where we are now, you can almost feel the positivity going through the whole year group. Whether they make the final cut or not is neither here nor there. Just being able to send kids, who don’t just turn up, but seriously compete in this type of environment is a massive achievement for our school so if you see Zack and Joe around it would probably mean a lot to them to say well done.

Yours in sport
