As Halloween approached and the nights drew in, Alsop High School is a time of ghouls, ghosts and spooktactular events!

A ghost story is a timeless, classic, style of creative writing and Alsop students were invited to enter the annual ‘Write To Fright’ house competition inspired by things that go bump in the night.

From creepy tales, urban legends and supernatural spine-chillers... what could possibly lurk in the imaginations of our fantastic pupils?

A bone chilling example from Caroline Ebeneezer who provided a gothic submission in the style of Edgar Allen Poe:

A chill wind whispers and cries through the night,

As ghosts and shadows dance in the eerie night,

Jack-o-lanterns glowing bright in the dark

Casting eerier shadows - Full of anxiety and fright.

The haunted house, a lone dread

It’s windows gleam with sickly red.

A ghostly figure pale an thin

Stands at the door inviting in.

A chilling laugh, a sudden scream

A nightmares grasp, a haunted dream

The night grew colder, darker still,

As Halloweens magic cast its chill.

Well done to everybody who took part!

The house team.
