The Geography Department spent the afternoon of Tuesday 30th September at the Albert Dock, with our Year 11 cohort. We are undertaking our fieldwork investigation, with the hypothesis that 'the human and physical environment has benefitted from the regeneration of the Albert Dock'. We are studying regeneration in the classroom and the visit allowed us to collect a range of useful primary data, including environmental quality surveys, land use surveys and field sketches. We also gave students the opportunity to interview members of the public and find out their views about the local area. It was a pleasure to see how confident and articulate our young people were in speaking to people outside of school. For many, it was completely out of their comfort zone, however they pushed themselves forward and came back with some great information. Students represented our school with pride and overall their behaviour was exemplary. The bus driver commented at the number of students that said thankyou to him as they got off. The next step is to complete our write up, which will comprise of transferring our raw data into appropriate data presentation and then analyse our results and draw conclusions. We will then evaluate the process and practice the type of exam questions that may come up in our final exams. ????????
